Ed's  Ramblings

Great time on the Grampian Gallop. Now
looking  to the  Tour of the Trossachs
Last month I related the  eNewsleter posting problems. Hopefully I have resolved these, but please drop me a reply if still nothing  appearing in your inbox.

Full report on our tour across the Grampians, introducing a new trial of route instructions by email in advance of arrival at the start. Overall entrants found the system worked for them.

Tour of the Trossachs organiser Jim Watson has followed this lead so similar process, route instructions will be emailed out.

A recent committee meeting after the Gallop discussed the new route instruction approach. We agreed that for tours with a fair distance between change of direction and road numbering the new system works.

For routes with short sections and more turns the full Tulip style helps reduce the chances of overshoot and the need to reverse / turn around. With that in mind the Tour of the Borders organising team will keep to the full Tulip style.

For the Grampian Gallop we invited members of the Saltire Rally Club as a named club, and were delighted to welcome several members to join us. We have continued this feature in the Trossachs event.

A good selection of classic cars on the 'for sale' page, so worth a look if you are in the market to own a new set of 'wheels'

NEWS
Grampian Gallop - 20 July 2025

Crews arrived from across Scotland, some having braved thunderstorms and thick fog to arrive at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre for the start of our Grampian Gallop tour on
20 July. Good fortune favoured us as the good old 'Scottish drizzle'
stopped long enough  to allow our crews to prepare their cars for the start. The threatened forecast thunderstorms never appeared on the 170 mile route and the skies cleared allowing the softops to be folded down (with the odd exceptional downpour on a couple of occasions leading to a run for cover!). Great banter over our high tea finalé back at the theatre celebrating another successful day visiting parts of the scottish highlands under clear skies with fine views.
