2010 Events

Rally School Perth - Sunday 3 January
Jan and Ron Adams have once again agreed to teach us their navigational skills to help us navigate successfully round the CCHMSC rally routes. A good way to see in the new year and work of some of the Christmas and New Year festivities.  A chance to brush up on map reading, tulips, managing regularities, test tips etc. This year we will be holding the event at the Isle of Skye Hotel in Perth, starting at 11.00am.

GNWC   -  22 to 24 January
The third running the Great North Winter Challenge, "Scotland's Monte" will once again have three starts in Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Inverness. In association with Highland Car Club, CCHMSC will offer another opportunity to experience the thrill of driving over the Scottish Cols, perhaps with a dash of snow if we are lucky. There will also be the Concentration Run Tour on the 22nd starting from Glasgow, similar to the 60th anniversary tour in 2009, which attracted a bumper entry.

Argyll Classic Car Run  -  TBA
2010 will keep our association with the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park as we tour some of the less well known routes round the park. Start will be at Balloch Castle. The event will form part of the 200th Anniversary celebrations of Sir Walter Scott’s epic verse The Lady of the Lake, which was set in and around the Trossachs. Inspired by a family holiday to Loch Katrine, the poem was an instant hit selling over 25,000 copies across the globe in its first year.  Date to be announced early 2010.

European Cruise   -   22 - 24 May
Building on the continental theme 2010 takes CCHMSC members back to France for the Circuit Historique de Laon. The town hosts a classic car parade for over 400 classic and vintage cars from all over Europe, and l2009 saw over 150 classics from the UK. Non competitive, with no racing, it is designed as a relaxing weekend.

On Saturday morning we will sign on for the scenic regional tour, collect our rally plates and route book, and off we go to explore the local countryside. On Sunday morning, all the cars assemble in Laon old town. The streets are closed to traffic, except for the cars participating in the street circuit, which is a mix of high street driving, hill climbs and hairpin bends – strictly no racing or speeding - and the whole town is amass with spectators.

This year is co-promoted with Club Triumph, and will take crews from the borders to the Highlands, with our Highland Car Club colleagues offering roads known only to them for your delight, and hosting the meal and prizegiving. Crews again expected from Scotland, England, Ireland and mainland Europe.
